In six seasons as head coach of the women's basketball team, Norris took OBU to new heights, leading the Bison to five national tournament appearances in that span.

With a career record of 137-61, Norris earned the second-most wins and second-highest winning percentage (.692) of any coach in program history.

In 1997 he was named SAC Coach of the Year.
