OBU Athletics Hall of Fame
The speed king of the Bison, Gene Stanley put together what is arguably the best four-year career at OBU.
He has four of the top five single-season stolen base marks in OBU baseball history, including the still-unchallenged OBU record of 63 thefts in 1999. He was a perfect 34 of 34 in stolen bases in his sophomore season.
Because there’s no way to steal first base, he got things done at the plate and was the ultimate table-setter. He is OBU’s all-time leader in hits (257), runs scored (259) and stolen bases (177). Â
Stanley carried a career .373 batting average and was a two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference shortstop.
