SHAWNEE – Jacey Hammon is the third Oklahoma Baptist signee from the all-guard class recruited by women's basketball head coach
Bo Overton and assistant
Brennyn Seagler.
A native of Plainview, Okla., she's a 5-foot-8 guard that scored nearly 1,200 points in her career at Plainview High School. Just this past season, she averaged 12.4 points per game.
Among her basketball achievements, she was named All-State by the Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA), Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA) and Native Team this past April.
Hammon also garnered Lake Country Conference Offensive Player of the Year accolades as well being the Best of Arbuckle Female Athlete of the Year.
As Coach Overton mentioned earlier this week, speed and quickness were major points of emphasis for this recruiting class. Hammon brings those qualities in spades. As a member of Plainview's track team, she was the 4A 400-meter dash state champ and holds the school record time for that event. Hammon was also a part of the school record 4x400 team and was a two-time champion and state and school record holder in the high jump.
Coach Overton's Thought:
"Jacey fits the mold of what we were looking for. She's an extremely good athlete that can play basketball. With that athleticism, she's played a lot of point guard in her career. But she's also played off the ball a little bit, too."
