Final Round Results
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Baptist freshman
Lucas Coapman claimed individual medalist honors and the Bison finished runner-up as a team Tuesday at the Great American Conference Preview.
OBU shot one-under par 287 in the final round of the tournament, but fell to second place after host-school Southern Nazarene erased a three-shot deficit with a 10-under 278. All three rounds were played at the par 72 Lake Hefner North Course.
The Bison finished with a team score of 866, two-over par for the tournament, while the Crimson Storm took the championship with a four-under 860.
Coapman continued his excellent play with a three-under 69 Tuesday to finish at eight-under par 208 and solidify the first win of his collegiate career. Fellow freshman
Mason Nutt tied for seventh place following a 74 in his final round for a 216.
Senior
Kyle Perdew and sophomore
Hudson Hoover each shot even-par 72 in the final round. Perdew finished T12 at 219, and Hoover was T17 after a 223 three-round total.
Shane Black used 74 strokes on his final 18 holes for a 238 final and a 33rd place finish.
"I was very impressed with the growth in our team from last week. Our young guys really came through for us and as I continue to say, the potential of our team is really starting to shine through," said OBU head coach
Drew Posada. "I'm very proud of them and I am expecting to continue to see improvement and growth as the season progresses."
Three Bison golfers completed as individuals, paced by
Luke Garner. Garner wrapped up the tournament with a round of 78 to place T24 after a 230 finish.
Tanner Oxford was right behind at T27, ending in 76 to finish 231. Freshman
Ryan Epperly was T31 after a round of 76 to bring his three-round total to 236.
Next up for OBU is the NCCAA Regional Sept. 19-20, at the Golf Club of Edmond. The Bison will host the event along with the Lady Bison on Monday and Tuesday.
