HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's golf team took to the course for the final round of the 2021 Great American Conference Championships on Tuesday, posting their best team round with a total score of 295 (+7) at Hot Springs Country Club. OBU finished the tournament carding a three-round total of 907 (+43) to placed seventh overall.
Senior
Payton Posada was the top individual finisher for the Bison tying for 14th place with a three-round total of 221 (+5) after a final-round 75 (+3). Posada posted three birdies in the final round to bring his tournament total to nine, sixth-best in the field.
Classmate
Dakota Clark also earned a top-20 individual finish for OBU, making birdie on his final hole of the day to shoot even-par 72. Clark carded a three-round total of 223 (+7), good for a tie for 20th overall.
Freshman Martin Gutierrez De Mesa fired his best round of the championship on Tuesday's final 18, recording three birdies en route to a 1-over-par 73. He would finish with a tournament total of 232 (+16), good for a tie for 35th with teammate
Keaton Dickens.
After back-to-back scores of 78 (+6) in the first two rounds, Dickens improved by two strokes in round three, shooting a 4-over-par 76.
Junior
Cole Dibler posted the biggest turnaround from round two to round three for OBU, firing three birdies on his final 18 to shoot 75 (+3), and improvement of six shots from the previous day. He finished the event with a two-day total of 238 (+22).
Arkansas Tech took the team championship with a three-round total of 850 (-14) after a 10-under par team showing on the final 18.
The Wonder Boys' Henry Frizzell was the GAC individual medalist, finishing with a score of 210 (-6). Frizzell carded the tournament's best round with a 66 (-6) on Tuesday.
Up next the Bison await to see if any team member will make the NCAA Central Regional. The NCAA is scheduled to make its decision on Friday, April 23.
