SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's first season in the NCAA division looks promising, as women's cross country received the No. 1 ranking in the preseason Great American Conference coaches' poll.

The Bison received 114 points in the 12-team poll, along with seven first-place votes. ECU ranked No. 2 with 108 points and four first-place votes, while Harding ranked No. 3 with 106 points and one first-place vote.

Following OBU is Southwestern Oklahoma State with 88 points, Southern Arkansas with 79, Southeastern Oklahoma State with 78, Southern Nazarene with 59, Arkansas Tech with 56, Henderson State with 33, Northwestern Oklahoma State with 29, Ouachita with 29, and Arkansas-Monticello with 13.

The Bison return most of their top squad this year, including first team All-GAC selections
Emily Sechrist,
Sydney Lawrence and
Daisy VanMeter, and second team All-GAC selection
Tesa Potter.

While last season's No. 2 finish in the NCCAA was impressive for the Bison, this season is equally as promising. The season officially opens Sept. 2 with the Central Oklahoma Land Run.
