JOPLIN, Mo. – Oklahoma Baptist's
Shayna Hendrix and
Adelaide Murphy placed 25th and 27th, respectively, to help lead the Bison to a fifth-place finish during Saturday's 5K Missouri Southern Stampede.
For Hendrix, she crossed the finish line in 18:37.30 while Murphy posted a time of 18:39.39, a season-best.
Pittsburg State won the overall team event with 64 points while MSSU and Rogers State followed in second and third, respectively. As for Great American Conference competition, East Central sat one spot ahead of the Bison in fourth place (137 points).
Sophomore
Kieran Paxton notched OBU's next-best finish, completing the 5K race in 18:56.74 which good for 35th place.
Rounding out the Bison's fourth- and fifth-point scorers were
Emma York and
Mekenzie Lyda. In 41st place was York (19:07.86) and Lyda (45th; 19:10.16).
A host of other Oklahoma Baptist women competed on Saturday morning including:
Trista Etheridge (19:17.76),
McKayla Schmitt (19:19.36),
Lauren Crouch (19:36.40),
Zoe Strange (20:00.91) and
Faith Farrar (20:18.24).
In two weeks, the Bison return to the course to take part in Arkansas' Chili Pepper Festival on Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.
