CLAREMORE – Oklahoma Baptist junior
Shayna Hendrix earned the Bison's top finish during the Rogers State Distance After Dark 5,000 on Thursday.
The Kiefer, Okla., native took 15th place with a time of 18:33.84. With her help, OBU came in third place during the season-opening race.
Following Hendrix, sophomore
Kieran Paxton was right behind in the standings at 16th place. Paxton's 5K time of 18:48.40 was a personal-best.
Freshman newcomer
Emma York rounded out the Bison's top three. In her first race with the green and gold, she came in 22nd, crossing the finish line in 18:57.81.
Rounding out Oklahoma Baptist's point scorers were freshman
Adelaide Murphy and junior
McKayla Schmitt. Murphy finished up in 23rd place (19:02.47) while Schmitt closed in at 19:13.78 which slotted her 27th.
Host Rogers State ended up winning the team title with 24 points while Oklahoma Christian took second (54).
The Bison will return to race Sept. 20 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin.
