SHAWNEE – The Great American Conference publicized the voting results for the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll for Women's Cross Country.
The GAC released the results for the Preseason Poll for the 2025 season of Women's Cross Country Thursday afternoon.
This season the Bison were picked to finish fourth in the league. In last year's poll, the green and gold were also ranked fourth in the conference. At the 2024 GAC Championship race, OBU Women's Cross Country finished fourth out of the 12 teams.
Of the remaining athletes on the team,
McKayla Schmitt and
Kieran Paxton were the top two finishes, placing amongst the top 35 runners out of 144 competitors.
Although Bison Cross Country lost a major competitor in
Sophia Strange, the green and gold bring in a handful of fresh faces to Bison Hill.
This season, the women's roster is made up of six returners and seven newcomers. Familiar faces on the team include
Mekenzie Connell,
Shayna Hendrix,
Kiara Smith,
Zoe Strange, Schmitt, Paxton, and the lone senior on the women's side,
Lauren Crouch.
All seven newcomers will debut their collegiate career on Bison Hill as freshmen. This bunch includes
Alexa Arzate,
Trista Etheridge,
Faith Farrar,
Analisee Gonzalez,
Adelaide Murphy,
Wylie Teagarden and
Emma York.
