SHAWNEE – Bison Women's Basketball hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State University to open up the 2025 run in Noble Complex Saturday.
The green and gold will kick start the new year in Shawnee as the Bison host the Rangers of NWOSU at 5:30 p.m.
Bison Notes
- OBU Women's Basketball is coming off of a tough two-point less (62-60) to SWOSU before the Christmas break, bringing the conference record to 4-1 and the overall mark to 8-3.
- In the most recent game for the Bison, Mackenzie Crusoe totaled 11 points, five assists and seven rebounds to lead the green and gold. Jaedyn Getman tallied nine points for OBU. Payten Conde had seven points with one steal, two blocks and three assists.
- Crusoe leads the Bison in scoring with 190 points on the season, averaging 17.3 points per game. #20 for OBU also leads the pack in steals with 25 on the season and assists, totaling 37.
- Conde is another key player for the green and gold with the second most assists on the team (23), ranking amongst the top 25 in the league in the category, third most steals (14) and a total of 36 rebounds. The 5'10 guard is shooting 43.6% from the field, 43.3% from the three, ranking sixth in the league and is 12-13 from the line. Conde's best outing this season was against Southeastern, where the Little River, Texas, native, went 3-5 from the field, 33.3% from the three, and a perfect 6-6 from the line. The game against SE also saw the sophomore claim a new season high of seven rebounds, with two assists, two steals and another 13-point game (her highest scoring game of the season).
- Sierra Copeland is another major component of success for the Bison. Copeland leads the team in blocks (14) and rebounds (60). In her senior season, Copeland has tallied 17 steals. The Howe, Texas, native, had her best defensive performance of the season in the head-to-head with Arkansas-Monticello. The UAM matchup saw Copeland total four blocks for a new career high, 10 rebounds for a new season high, and one steal.
- In GAC standings, Crusoe is ranked third in scoring at 17.3 points per game. Copeland and Crusoe are ranked in the top 25 in the league in rebounds per game with Copeland taking 17th place at 5.5 and Crusoe at 24th with 4.9 rebounds per game. Conde is sixth in percentage from the three at 43.3%. Freshman, Katelyn Davis is 14th in the GAC in percentage from the three, shooting 35%. Sydney Duncan (16th, 34.6%), Catyn Graham (22nd, 31.3%) and Kennedy Large (25th, 29.3%) are all amongst the top 25 in the league in three-point field goal percentage. With the most representation of any school in the league in the category, the green and gold are at the top of the conference in threes made with an average of 9.1 threes per game with a total of 100 threes on the season.
- Crusoe also takes seventh in the league in free throw percentage at 82.5%. Crusoe, Davis, Conde, Graham, Large rank amongst the top 25 in threes per game. Crusoe sits in seventh with an average of 1.8, Davis is 19th with 1.3 per game, Conde at 21st with 1.2 per game, Graham in 22nd at 1.1 and Large in 25th at 1.1. Crusoe and Conde represent OBU in the league stats in assists per game with Crusoe ranking fifth (3.4) and Conde in 22nd (2.1). Copeland, Conde and Duncan fall in the top 25 in blocked shots per game with Copeland in 5th (1.3), Conde in 24th (.5) and Duncan in 25th (.4). Crusoe takes fourth in the GAC in steals per game at 2.3 and Copeland takes 13th at 1.5.
- The Bison are in first place in the league in free throw percentage at 82.7% from the line. The green and gold are also first in threes made with a total of 100 on the season for an average of 9.1 threes per game. OBU is third in blocked shots per game at 3.91, third in assists at 13.09 assists per game, and fifth in steals at 8.82 steals per game.
Ranger Notes
- NWOSU is 3-2 in conference play and 6-5 overall. The most recent game for the Rangers resulted in a 59-38 win over East Central in Alva. The pair of losses in conference play come from SE (77-68) and Harding (59-47).
- Payton Jones is a force to be reckoned with for the Rangers. Jones leads the pack in scoring at 169 points on the season to average 15.4 per game, ranking fifth in the GAC. #11 for NWOSU is also a big defensive player for the visitors with 16 steals, seven blocks and 58 rebounds. The 5'10 guard is has tallied 14 assists. In her senior season, Jones is shooting 42.6% from the field, 25% from the three and 81.7% from the line.
- Camille Thomas is another key player for the Rangers, leading the team in steals (23), blocks (8) and rebounds (70). Totaling 90 points so far this season, Thomas is 31-77 from the field and 28-34 from the charity stripe. Thomas is ninth in the GAC in rebounds at 6.4 per game
- Payton Jones is ranked fifth in the league in points per game at 15.4, Kennedy Hight is 19th at 10.8 points per game and Kira Bass is 24th with 10 points per game. Thomas falls in ninth in the league with 6.4 rebounds per game, Bass is 12th with 6.1 and Payton Jones is 20th in 5.3 rebounds per game. Bass is seventh in field goal percentage at 51% and Payton Jones is shooting 42.6% at 20th in the GAC.
- Thomas (8th), Payton Jones (9th) and Hight (19th) are all in the top 20 in free throw percentage. Tegan Jones leads the league in percentage from the three at 63.6% and Carly Craig is ninth with a 39.1%. Craig is also third in threes per game, averaging 2.3. Tegan Jones is also ranked amongst the top 25 in three per game at 1.3 for 20th place. Hight ranks third in assists per game at 3.8 and Craig is fourth at 3.5. Thomas and Bass take 12th and 13th in blocked shots per game at .7 per game and Payton Jones is 18th with an average of .6. Thomas is ranked fifth in steals at 2.1 per game while Craig (9th, 1.6), Bass (10th, 1.6) and Payton Jones( 16th, 1.5) are all in the top 20 in steal per game.
