Bison Women’s Basketball opens conference play at home

SHAWNEE – OBU Women's Basketball hosts Arkansas-Monticello Thursday evening to open conference action in Noble Complex. The Bison will also welcome Southern Arkansas to Shawnee for a Saturday night afternoon matchup.

The green and gold are back in Bison territory to kick off GAC play in the upcoming weekend. 

Arkansas-Monticello will make their way to Noble for a 5:30 p.m. tip off in Noble Complex. Saturday's game will see a 1 p.m. start as the Bison take on SAU. 

Bison Game Notes
  • OBU WBB split the recent week of action, opening the week with a close 48-47 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville Friday afternoon at the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. The matchup with the tournament host saw the Rattlers secure the game with a 64-59 final, seeing OBU close out the week with a 1-1 record.
  • The green and gold are 4-2 overall with a perfect record at home (1-0), a perfect record at neutral sites (2-0) and a 1-2 history on the road. 
  • The Bison lead the GAC in three made, averaging 10.8 per game with a total of 65 across six games. The green and gold also lead the league in team free throw percentage at .849, going 62-73. OBU is fifth in steals per game (10.33), assists per game (13.33) and team three-point percentage (.305).
  • Mackenzie Crusoe is ranked fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game. Crusoe (15) and Sierra Copeland (18) are ranked amongst the top 20 in the GAC in rebounds with Crusoe averaging 5.8 and Copeland averaging 5.5 per game. Four Bison are ranked in the top 25 in conference in three-point percentage: Payten Conde leading the green and gold at 16th (.381), Parker Stevenson at 20th (.348), Catyn Graham at 22nd (.346) and Sydney Duncan at 24th (.333). Crusoe, Conde and Stevenson are ranked in the top 25 in assists. 
  • Copeland is in a four-way tie for third most blocked shots with six on the season. Ducan and Kennedy Large have totaled three blocked shots, tying for 13th most on the GAC. Crusoe is fourth in steals per game with 15 on the season to average 2.5 per game. Copeland and Conde also rank amongst the top 25 in steals per game with Copeland taking 17th with 10 steals and Conde ranked 21st with 9. 
  • In the last week of action, Crusoe led the Bison with 32 points, averaging 16 points per game. The Choctaw, OK, native, also led in steals with five on the week and 14 total rebounds to average 7 per game last week. Crusoe also had the best field goal percentage on the week at .385, and the best three-point percentage at .429.
  • Copeland led the team with three blocks, also tallying five steals and 10 total rebounds. In the previous two games for the Bison, the green and gold went 39-120 from the field, 20-74 from the three and 9-11 from the charity stripe. OBU totaled 64 rebounds, seven blocks, 25 steals and 107 points to average 53.5 points across the last couple of games. 
 
Boll Weevil Notes
 
  • In the most recent outing for Arkansas-Monticello, the Boll Weevils dropped the road match in Bethany, OK, to the Crimson Storm, 88-51 in favor of Southern Nazarene.
  • Headed into the matchup with the Bison, the Boll Weevils are 5-2 overall and looking to claim their first conference win after losing the opening game of conference play to SNU. UAM is perfect at home with a 4-0 record. The Boll Weevils are 1-1 on the road and 0-1 in neutral territory.
  • Bailey Harris is a key player for the UAM offensive, leading the team with 95 points to average 13.6 per game, taking 13th place in the league in points per game. Harris also the Boll Weevils with 12 steals and five blocks. In her senior season at UAM, Harris holds a .413 field goal percentage, sits almost perfect at the free throw line at 11-13 and is 8-30 from the three. 
  • Camille Pritchard leads the Boll Weevils with 42 rebounds, averaging 6.1 per game to take ninth place in the league in rebounds per game. Pritchard has totaled three blocks and five steals on the season. As a junior, Pritchard is 25-63 from the field, 8-25 from the three and perfect at 21-21 from the charity stripe. 
  • Haleigh Crews also carries weight for UAM, ranked 13th in field goal percentage (.508). Crews is also over .500 from the three at 7-12 and 10-13 from the free throw line. Ella Mask is another big contender, taking seventh place in steals per game at 2.2 with a total of 11 steals on the season so far. 
  • Arkansas-Monticello is third in the league in threes made with an average of 6.9 per game, totaling 48 on the season so far. UAM is also third in team free throw percentage at .774. Also ranked third in combined team rebounds, UAM averages 41 per game with a total of 287.
 
Mulerider Notes
  • SAU is 5-1 overall after securing their most recent win at 102-40 in against Dallas Christian College on Nov. 30. The Muleriders are 1-0 on the road, 2-1 at home and 2-0 at neutral sites. Prior to the Saturday afternoon game with the Bison, SAU will take on SNU for a Thursday night meeting in Bethany. 
  • Addy Tremie leads the offensive efforts for the Muleriders with 72 points on the season, averaging 12.0 per game to rank 18th in the league. So far this season, Tremie has totaled 20 rebounds and eight steals. The graduate student for SAU is 28-62 from the field, and 16-38 from the three. 
  • Tequaza Chambers is another powerhouse player for the SAU with 71 points on the season, averaging 11.8 per game, taking 21st place in the GAC. Chambers is shooting .558 from the field ranking 10th in the conference, .667 from the three and is perfect at 7-7 from the charity stripe. Chambers has totaled 17 rebound, 24 assists for first place in the league in assists per game at 7.0, and 19 steals. 
  • Elena Lijo-Rodriguez leads the Muleriders in blocks with 12, averaging 2.0 per game to rank second in the league, and is fourth in the league with a field goal percentage of .636. Marlee Bright leads the team with 29 steals and 42 assists. Bright also leads the GAC with a field goal percentage of .684. 
  • Crystal Ortiz leads in rebounds with 38 on the season, ranking eighth in the league at 6.3 rebounds per game. Ortiz is also 6-7 from the free throw line, 25-54 from the field, ranking 15th in percentage, and 2-11 from the three, with a total of 58 points, averaging 9.7 per game. 
  • SAU is second in field goal percentage at .499 and second in percentage from the three at .385. The Muleriders are fourth in combined team rebounds at 39.8 per game, totaling 287. SAU is third in blocked shots per game at 3.83, second in assists per game at 19.67, and leads the league in steals per game at 14.83.
