Bison Women’s Basketball back in Noble Complex for meeting with Savage Storm

SHAWNEE – OBU Women's Basketball returns home to host Southeastern Oklahoma State University Thursday evening and prepares for a road trip to Ada over the weekend to take on the Tigers from East Central.

The green and gold will host their third conference matchup as the Savage Storm makes their way to Shawnee for 5:30 p.m. matchup. The weekend action will send the Bison on the road to Ada for a 5:30 p.m. meeting with the Tigers.

Bison Notes
  • After a perfect week to start of conference action, OBU is 2-0 in GAC play, and 6-2 overall. The green and gold are perfect in Noble Complex with a trio of wins. The road record for the Bison sees a 1-2 mark and OBU maintains another perfect record at neutral locations. 64
  • The most recent wins for the Bison came in the form of a 70-64 win over Arkansas-Monticello and a 64-57 final against Southern Arkansas. 
  • The past week of play saw Jaedyn Getman return to action for the Bison, leading the scoring game for the green and gold in the matchup with Southern Arkansas with 19 points over the span of 18 minutes. In the previous season, Getman was the leading scorer for the Bison and a vital piece of the puzzle for OBU. 
  • Another key player for the green and gold in the previous week was Katelyn Davis. In her freshman season at OBU, Davis has made serval contributions to the success of the program. The SAU game saw Davis go 5-7 from the field, 2-3 from the three, totaling 12 points with two steals and three rebounds over 26 minutes of action. Davis also leads the league in free throw percentage with a perfect record of 16-16 from the line. 
  • The Bison have several leaders amongst the GAC stat pages. Oklahoma Baptist leads the league in threes made with a total of 75 to average 9.4 threes per game. The Bison also lead the GAC in free throw percentage at .814 at 96-118. 
  • Mackenzie Crusoe is third in scoring in the league averaging 17.7 points per game with a total of 106 points on the season. Crusoe is ranked 23rd in rebounds, averaging 5.1 per game with 41 total rebounds. Crusoe is eighth in charity stripe percentage at .827 and fifth in threes made per game with an average of 2.1. Graham and Conde are in a three-way tie for 12th in the league in threes made per game at1.4 per game.
  • Sierra Copeland is ranked 13th in the GAC in rebounds per game with an average of 6 rebounds and total of 48. Copeland is fourth in the league in blocks per game, averaging 1.3 with a total of 11 blocks on the season. The Howe, Texas, native, is also tied for 14th in the conference in steals per game at 1.6, totaling 13 on the 2024 season so far. 
  • Payten Conde is eighth in the conference in three-point percentage at .440 while Catyn Graham is 22ndwith a .323 percentage and Parker Stevenson rounds out 25th at .308. Graham and Conde are in a three-way tie for 12th in the league in threes made per game at1.4 per game.
 
Savage Storm Notes
  • The blue and yellow are 2-0 in conference play and 5-3 overall. With a perfect record at home and a losing record on the road at 1-2, the Savage Storm in knotted up at an even 1-1 record on neutral ground.
  • The two losses this season for SE come from a 61-53 final vs Winona State and an 84-52 loss to No. 4, Tampa. 
  • In the opening week of conference action, the Savage Storm secured a 2-0 record with wins over Henderson State (59-46) and a 72-66 victory over Ouachita Baptist. 
  • Southeastern hold second place in the league in team free throw percentage at .799, going 111-139 from the line. The Savage Storm is fourth in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.38 blocks, totaling 27 on the season. 
  • Caitlin Kobiske leads the SE scoring efforts, totaling 137 points this season to average 17.1 points per game. Kobiske also leads the Savage Storm in total rebounds with 52 over the span of eight games, averaging 6.5 per game, earning a ranking amongst the top ten in conference at number nine. #15 for SE is ranked fourth, right behind Crusoe. 
  • Lindley Holli ranks 12th in the league in points per game, averaging 12.6 with a total of 100 points this season. Holli is fifth in the conference in free throw percentage at .864. At 10th in the league in steals per game at 1.9, Holli's totaling 15 this season.
  • Other SE players to look out for include Stevie Stinchcomb, Abbie Barr, Kenzli Warden, Bri Wietelman and Kadrin Scott. 
 
Tiger Notes
  • As of Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers are 4-2 overall and perfect in conference play. ECU holds a steady 2-1 record both at home and on the road. 
  • The most recent wins for the Tigers, similar to the Savage Storm, came from a 62-48 win over Ouachita Baptist and a five-point victory over Henderson State at 66-61. Earlier this season, the Tigers dropped a pair of games to Cameron University (69-59) and Rogers State (61-51). 
  • Katie Edelen leads ECU's scoring with 106 total points to average 17.7 points per game, earning second place in the league in scoring average. With 209 minutes under her belt this season, Edelen is 40-86 from the field, 11-20 from the three, ranking fifth in the conference, and 15-17 from the charity stripe for fourth place in the GAC. #15 for the Tigers has also compiled 28 rebounds, nine steals and two blocks, making for a well-rounded weapon for ECU. 
  • Claira Dannefer is another major contributor for the Tiger ranked amongst the top 25 players in nearly every statistical category. Dannefer is fifth in the league in rebounding with 7.5 rebounds per game. In field goal percentage, Dannefer takes 12th at .509. Free throw percentage sees Dannefer in the top 25 with a mark of .667. #20 for ECU rounds out the top 25 in blocked shots with three on the season so far. Dannefer is also amongst the top 20 in the conference in scoring with 70 total points to average 11.7 points per game. 
  • Other Tiger players to keep an eye on include Eva Fernandez, and Makenzy Herman. Herman and Fernandez are also great competitors with impressive stats this season, adding on to the success of the program this season.
