CLAREMORE, Okla. – Senior runner Sophia Strange led the Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country team to a second-place finish among six squads at the Rogers State Invitational Friday night.
Strange edged out the field to win the 3-mile race, crossing the winning stripe in 16:59.24. Strange, a junior out of Houston, Texas, earns her third cross country individual victory of her career.
Freshman Mekenzie Connell placed right outside the top 10 at 11th with a time of 17:53.26, while junior Jaydn Pavlik finished 13th in 17:55.14.
Rounding out the Bison placers in the top 20 were McKayla Schmitt (16th, 17:59.76), Shayna Hendrix (17th, 18:05.21), and Jade Robinson (19th, 18:13.24).
Oklahoma Baptist returns to the course on Sept. 15 at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas.
