GAC Selects Stevenson for Weekly Honor

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist freshman guard Parker Stevenson was tabbed as Great American Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Bison to a 56-54 comeback win at Southeastern Oklahoma State over the weekend.

Stevenson is just the second OBU freshman to earn the honor in the D2 era. Previously, Kalifa Ford was selected on Dec. 2, 2019. Furthermore, this is the Bison's first weekly honor since Ford was chosen on Jan. 31, 2022.

In 26 minutes of action versus SE, the 5-foot-7 guard from Shawnee registered a game- and season-high 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting. That included a 4-of-7 showing from downtown. Plus, the 26 points she scored off the bench were the second-highest by an OBU player in the D2 era since Shaylan Coleman registered 28 against SWOSU on March 1, 2018. Stevenson was also a contributor defensively and registered two blocks and two steals.

Trailing by 10 early in the third, Stevenson scored 15 points in that period and then later hit the game-winning layup with 55 seconds left to lift the green and gold to its first GAC win.

With her performance, Stevenson moved into the top-25 of the GAC in scoring (10.7) and field-goal percentage (43.6), as well as rise to seventh in three-point shooting (44.8). Stevenson is also slotted 16th in steals (1.8).
