SHAWNEE – The recent climb by the Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball program reached another new height on Thursday. Head Coach
Bo Overton's squad was picked to finish in third in the Great American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
It's the highest-ever preseason ranking for the Bison since joining the GAC.
A season ago, OBU went 17-13, won a GAC Tournament game for the first time and at one point had a nine-game winning streak.
Heading into his fourth year as coach, Overton has a very strong team returning. All-GAC honoree
Madison Chambers is back as well as the GAC's Freshman of the Year from a season ago
Jaedyn Getman. Plus, reliable returnees
Jill Leslie,
Kennedy Large,
Sierra Copeland,
Sydney Duncan and
Faith Wright are ready to contribute again.
The Bison also have a host of talented freshmen that will see the court this year. OBU will open its 2023-24 campaign with an exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 4 against Oklahoma City University.
