SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist student-athletes continued to achieve excellence in the classroom during the fall 2019 semester, posting an overall grade point average of 3.08 and landing 313 on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll. In total, 50 Bison earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the term.
"I'm incredibly proud of the tremendous work our student-athletes do in the classroom," said OBU athletics director
Robert Davenport. "It is a testament to the culture of excellence that our coaches have instilled in each of our programs and the hard work our student-athletes put in both on the field and especially in the classroom. We're grateful for the tremendous support system the university has created to foster this kind of academic success by our student-athletes."
The Paul and Ann Milburn Student Success Center is one spot on campus that has been committed to the success of both the student-athletes and the overall student body. The student success staff and resources are available to assist students of all majors, classifications and academic needs with comprehension of course material as well as in the development of study, research, analytical, reading, writing and critical thinking skills.
To qualify for the AD's Honor Roll, a student must score a GPA of at least 3.0.
This marks 16 consecutive semesters that OBU's student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA higher than 3.0.
