SHAWNEE -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Department announced the hiring of Ryan Bower as Director of Communications, effective June 1.
Bower brings a wealth of communications and marketing experience to Bison Hill.
Over the past five years, he's served as a gameday statistician and media room manager for Duke University men's basketball, as well as assisted at UNC-Chapel Hill and Campbell University. Bower provided in-game statistics for a host of sports and aided those universities during NCAA Softball Regionals and the NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup.
Other stops include serving as the Director of Athletic Communications at Florida Southern College in Lakeland from 2016-2020. While in the Sunshine State, he worked with more than 20 teams and oversaw and developed a staff of three full-time employees.
Early in his career, he was the Assistant Sports Information Director at Appalachian State University from 2011-2015 where he worked with the men's basketball, volleyball, tennis and indoor track and field programs.
Bower also brings communications and marketing experience as a manager with Western Governors University as well as being a specialist in the NC Office of State Human Resources.
A 2008 graduate of Cedarville University, Bower earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Communications before earning his Master's in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University in 2012.
Ryan and his wife, Malissa, have two children, Trace and Sloane and will reside in Shawnee. They have an Australian Kelpie named Holly.
