SHAWNEE -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Department announced the hiring of Rives Mitchell as Assistant Director of Communications/Broadcasting, effective June 1.
Mitchell, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma in 2025, has worked locally on 107.7 The Franchise since 2022. His roles have included serving as a producer and broadcaster for over 100 high school and collegiate sporting events in that time.
He has also produced programming for the OU Coach's Show and Oklahoma City Thunder pre- and post-game shows and covered other major events such as SEC Media Days and the Big 12 Baseball Tournament.
Furthermore, Mitchell served as a color commentator with the Oklahoma Sports Network in 2025 helping a familiar Bison Sports Network commentator Dave Myrick. Plus, during the 2025 Bison Football season, Mitchell gained valuable collegiate experience by assisting with the in-game statistics gathering of the five home games in Shawnee.
