SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country, the No. 21-ranked team in the preseason United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCA) poll, open their season on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the University of Central Oklahoma Land Run. The meet begins at 8 a.m. on the Edmond Santa Fe High School Wolf Trail.
The Bison have won the UCO Land Run four straight seasons, and at the same meet last year placed four runners inside the top five. While OBU will have to fill the void after the departures of
Kaylee Large Crowson,
Sydney Lawrence and
Emily Sechrist due to graduation, the team does return three runners who finished in the top eight in 2018.
Tesa Potter is OBU's top returner at the meet after finishing the five-kilometer course in 18:56.6, good for a fourth-place finish. Potter finished just ahead of
Emma Downing who claimed fifth place after clocking in at 19:09.8.
Allison Derry was OBU's final scoring runner at the meet last year with an eighth-place finish and a time of 19.15.5.
