General OBU Athletics Communications

Morris Joins OBU Staff as Assistant AD

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Director of Athletics Robert Davenport announced Monday the addition of Tanner Morris to the Bison administrative staff as Assistant Athletics Director for Fan Engagement.

"Tanner's energy and strategic vision, coupled with his impressive background at the Division I level, really stood out during the search process," Davenport said. "We are excited to get him on campus and working with our student-athletes, coaches and teams to cultivate and build our fan base and engage the greater Shawnee community."

Morris comes to Bison Hill following a two-year stint with the College of Charleston where he served as the Cougars' Marketing and Ticketing Assistant.

"I am thrilled for this opportunity to work at OBU," Morris said. "I can't wait to get started and help continue the success of OBU Athletics."

In his role with the Bison, Morris will be responsible for all marketing, promotions and game presentation for 21 OBU varsity athletics programs. He will also work closely with the communications staff in developing digital media and graphic content, with additional responsibility with season and group ticket sales, sponsorship renewals and activation, and community engagement.

During his tenure in Charleston, his primary duties included oversight of the marketing and promotions efforts for the Cougars' volleyball, women's basketball and softball programs. Morris also supervised the student sports marketing team, which assisted in the promotion of CofC Athletics.

Prior to CofC, he served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, from January 2016 to May 2017. There, Morris was responsible for the marketing efforts and game management for volleyball and softball, while assisting with in-game promotions for football, baseball, and men's and women's basketball.

A former soccer student-athlete at Jones County (Miss.) Junior College, he served as team captain during his sophomore year. Morris later transferred to Southern Miss, where he earned his bachelor's degree in sport management.

While serving as a graduate assistant for the Southern Miss Sports Marketing Department, he completed his master's degree coursework in sport management in May of 2017.
