Avina Wins Second GAC Player-of-Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist's Autumn Avina won for the second time this year the Great American Conference women's basketball player-of-the-week for her impressive efforts against Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State.

Avina, a 5-6 senior guard from Austin, Texas, recorded her second career triple-double in OBU's 76-64 win over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. She had previously recorded a triple-double last year against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

In the two games this week, Avina averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists. She finished the week shooting 17-of-34 for 50.0 percent from the field, including four-of-seven from three-point distance.

Avina and her OBU teammates are now 6-6 on the year and 2-4 in league play. They next play Thursday, Jan. 10 at Harding University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
