Â
SHAWNEE – Ahead of the upcoming season, Oklahoma Baptist head coach
Matt Kennedy has released the 2018 Women's Cross Country schedule.
Â
Following a season which saw the Lady Bison finish 20th at the NCAA National Championship with two All-Americans to their credit, OBU has set an ambitious schedule as the look to further make their mark in the Division II landscape.
Â
The Lady Bison start their season in Edmond on Sept. 1 at the Central Oklahoma Land Run on the campus of Edmond Santa Fe High School. Oklahoma Baptist claimed the team title at the same meet last year, claiming four of the top five times.
Â
After a week off, OBU runs in back-to-back weeks. First, the Lady Bison are in Joplin, Missouri, for the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 15. Oklahoma Baptist follows that up on Sept. 22 with a trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chili Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist takes part in their lone home meet of the season on Oct. 6 when they host the OBU Invitational. The Lady Bison won their home race in dominating fashion last year.
Â
Following a week of rest, the Lady Bison face their toughest challenge yet when they make the trek to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the Division II Pre-National Race hosted by Slippery Rock University on Oct. 20.
Â
On Nov. 3, the Lady Bison will look to repeat as Great American Conference champions as they return to Edmond for the GAC Championship.
Â
The NCAA Central Regional is two weeks later, on Nov. 14. Oklahoma Baptist will head to Joplin for the meet, looking to earn consecutive berths to the National Championship. The National Championship, in Pittsburgh, is scheduled for Dec. 1.
