SHAWNEE – For the second year in a row, the Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country team is headed to the NCAA Division II National Championship Meet by way of an at-large bid. The Lady Bison have qualified for the national meet in each season that they've been postseason-eligible since completing the transition to full Division II membership last year.
Â
"The team's worked hard for this, everybody's done their job," said OBU head coach
Matt Kennedy. "There have been lots of early mornings and weekend workouts to get to this point. It's great to be able to send out our seniors with another trip to Nationals!"
Â
No. 15 Oklahoma Baptist tied for third at the Central Region Championship last Saturday, but lost a tiebreaker to No. 11 Pittsburg State to miss out on automatic qualification. The Lady Bison were the only Central Region team to receive an at-large bid, and are the only representative from the Great American Conference headed to the national meet.
Â
The Lady Bison will head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, next Saturday, Dec. 1 to compete at the National Championship.
