SHAWNEE – Battling through hot and muggy conditions, No. 18 Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country claimed their second first place finish of the year at the OBU Invitational on Saturday morning at Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
Â
The Lady Bison, despite less than ideal racing conditions, scored 24 points and outpaced second place East Central by 65 points, the largest margin of victory in four years at the Invitational. Oklahoma Baptist had six of their top seven runners finish in the top 10, and finished the 5,000-meter course in an average time of 18:57.59. With the win, OBU remains undefeated against Division II opponents.
Â
"I am very happy with how well the girls performed on a hot, humid, and windy day," said OBU head coach
Matt Kennedy. "Considering the conditions, times really didn't matter. I was happy to watch the girls execute and compete with great focus, passion, and determination. This is a solid field, placing six in the top nine was big time!"
