SHAWNEE – White defeated Green 17-14 in the 2017 Oklahoma Baptist Spring Game, and more importantly the Bison improved.

"One of the things we like about the Spring Game and the way we divide the teams is everybody gets a chance to get reps," said OBU Coach
Chris Jensen. "And so some guys surprise you out there and make some plays they might not otherwise have a place. Spring has been a phenomenal for us this spring and this is just a culmination of that."

The Spring Game was two 15-minute halves and for the first 13 minutes of the game, the defenses dominated.

Brandon Pollard connected on a 69-yard pass play to
Stephan Turner and five plays later White was in the end zone on a four-yard run by
Isaiah Mallory with 1:08 left in the half.
Luke Wendl added the PAT for a 7-0 lead.

The was enough time for Green to knot things up, using a 36-yard
Preston Haire to
Cagney Roberson pass play to set up a 29-yard touchdown pass from Haire to
Levi Bagwell.
Trey Tully nailed the extra point for the tie.

Wendl booted a 42-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead with 10:16 to go in the game, giving White a 10-7 lead.

Darrian Moss put the Bison ahead 17-7 with 3:42 remaining in the game, scoring on a 47-yard touchdown run.

Dean Van Vors connected with
Jacques Henderson for a 61-yard scoring strike with 2:18 left in the game for the final margin.
Â
White rushed for 214 yards on 40 carries with Moss getting 91 yards on 12 carries and Mallory 86 yards on 17 totes.
Brandon Pollard passed for 94 yards.

Haire led Green with 24 yards rushing and 85 yards passing.
Gus Hull was 3-of-4 passing for 39 yards and Van Vors' lone pass was the touchdown.

Turner, Henderson and Robertson had two receptions each. Turner had 73 yards, Henderson 62 and Roberson 56.

Defensively, Anthony Figueroa led the way with 10 tackles and
Dennis Nguyen got a sack. Nguyen,
Daniel Moniz,
Matthew Tigert, Figueroa and
Emmanuel Cole all had tackles for loss.

Dante Foster,
Landon Rowlett,
Christian Wright,
Albert Monge and Cole all broke up passes.

The Spring Game finishes the productive spring practice season for the Bison.

"From top to bottom the way we improved in the way we approach our business," Jensen said. "Our coaches have done a great job this spring getting the players to prepare themselves. We didn't have a bad practice all spring. We had days when we came out strong but we gathered ourselves and finished strong every day. I'm really pleased with the progress we made this spring."
