Bison Ranked 10th in Preseason GAC Football Poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist is picked 10th in the Great American Conference Football Coaches' Poll, released Thursday.

The poll reflects exactly where the Bison finished in last year's standings – their first season in the GAC. OBU had two wins a year ago, claiming a road win at Northwestern Oklahoma State and a home victory against Arkansas-Monticello.

"Preseason polls are usually an impression based on what you did last year," said OBU Coach Chris Jensen. "The teams that are at the top of the poll have been successful every year and deserve to be there. If we want to be ranked highly, we have to earn it by winning consistently."

OBU's players report Aug. 10 and begin practice Aug. 13. The season opens on the road Sept. 3 at Harding with the first home game coming at noon, Sept. 10, against Arkansas Tech.

The Bison play six home games this season and season tickets are still available. Purchases can be made at OBUBison.com/Tickets or by calling 405.585.5411.

Henderson State is atop the poll with 10 first-place votes and 120 points. Harding is second at 100, with one first place vote.

Ouachita is third at 91, followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State at 88, Southern Arkansas at 82, Arkansas Tech at 79, East Central at 65 (with a first place vote), Southeastern Oklahoma State at 63, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 33, OBU at 32, Arkansas-Monticello at 28 and Southern Nazarene at 11.
