SHAWNEE – The second annual Bison Sports Awards will take place Monday, May 2, inside Raley Chapel on the OBU campus.
After a hugely successful debut last year, the 2016 BSAs are expected to be bigger and better with the introduction of several new award categories, including the Jonathan Award of Encouragement, BSA Icon Award and the Dav Cup.
Developed by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Dav Cup will be presented annually to the Bison or Lady Bison team that best exhibits program spirit and investment in their fellow student-athletes by attending other teams' athletics events on campus.
Back for his second year as emcee is Bison track and field pole vault standout Blaine Kilinc, who will have a difficult time topping his hosting debut which included a proposal to girlfriend, and Lady Bison basketball player, Charity Fowler. Kilinc's OBU track teammate Kysha Miller joins him as co-host for this year's event.
OBU students, as well as parents, family, alumni, supporters and friends can purchase tickets to the 2016 BSAs for just $5 through the end of the day Friday. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event for $10.
Visit OBUBison.com for a complete recap of the evening, including a list of award winners on Tuesday. Winners will be posted live on Twitter as they are announced during Monday's ceremony. Guests are also encouraged to post photos from the show on Instagram and Twitter using #2016BSAs.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Monday with live music until the awards presentation begins at 7 p.m.
