SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist added five players in the football transfer signing period this month.
Heading to Bison Hill are offensive linemen Jonathan Palmer and Stephen Youmans, defensive linemen Titus Stewart and Joseph Sanchez, and safety Anthony Figueroa.
Jonathan Palmer
Palmer is a 6-4, 300-pound offensive lineman from Oklahoma City, transferring to OBU as a sophomore from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
The son of Phil and Shannon Palmer, Jonathan played at Christian Heritage Academy.
"I chose OBU because of the coaches and their drive and vision for the program," Palmer said. "But most of all, I chose OBU because this is where God wants me to go."
Steve Youmans
Youmans is a 6-2, 295-pound offensive lineman from Lawton, transferring from Northeastern State. He was an All-State, All-District and All-Conference selection at Lawton High School under Coach Randy Breeze. He helped his team to three undefeated district titles and a State runner-up finish his junior season.
The son of Stephen Youmans (father), Peggy Youmans (mother) and Shella Youmans (stepmother), Steve also was a member of the National Honor Society.
He will be a freshman next fall and said he selected OBU "to receive a great degree and strengthen my relationship with Christ."
Youmans also was recruited by Drake, Lindenwood, Fort Hays State and Emporia State.
Anthony Figueroa
Figueroa is a 6-0, 180-pound safety transferring as a junior from East Los Angeles College.
Figueroa was All-Area honorable mention in football, All-League and a CIF finalist in track and field at Whittier (California), where he played football for Coach Vision Ancich.
The son of Armando Figueroa and Angelia Castillo, Anthony, who resides in East Los Angeles, also was Student-Athlete of the Year, a Golden State Seal student and a Principal's Honor List student.
Also recruited by Southeastern Oklahoma State, Figueroa said he selected OBU "to win a championship in a championship environment."
Stewart is a 6-3, 240-pound defensive end from Diamond Bar, California.
Titus Stewart
Stewart, who transfers from Chaffey College as a junior, was First-Team All-Conference, First-Team All-CIF and League Lineman of the Year at Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary for Coach Kim Taylor. He also was part of a league championship squad.
The son of Richard Stewart, Titus was also recruited by East Central and Livingstone.
Sanchez is a 6-2, 285-pound defensive tackle from Ayala High School in Chino Hills, California.
Joseph Sanchez is a 6-2, 290-pound defensive lineman from Chino Hills, California. He is transferring to OBU from Chaffey College and will be a sophomore this fall.
He played at Ayala High School for Coach Randy Reams and was a Sierra League honorable mention All-League and Ayala's Defensive Lineman of the Year.
The son of Norma and Jose Sanchez, Joseph was a four-year Scholar Athlete student.

He was recruited by East Central, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Adams State, Minot State and Livingstone.
"I chose OBU because I feel like this school presents the best opportunity to grow as a student, an athlete and most importantly as a person in all aspects of life," Sanchez said. "The coaches also made me feel wanted throughout the recruiting process and hearing their goals for the program and the athletes is something I'm excited to contribute to and be a part of."
