DURANT  – Five Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country runners received honors after the Great American Conference Championships Saturday.

Due to its provisional membership status in the NCAA, OBU was not able to compete for the team championship. However, OBU's finish would have been a team championship with 38 points.

Three Lady Bison – two sophomores and a freshman – earned All-Conference honors with top 10 finishes.

Emily Sechrist placed second at 18:02.08,
Sydney Lawrence was third at 18:05.6 and freshman
Daisy VanMeter was seventh at 18:34.7. Freshmen
Kandace Standridge (18:52.8) and
Tesa Potter (19:19.8) were 11
th and 15
th, respectively, earning second-team All-Conference honors.

Emily Banks and
Lauren Franz both were honored as Crafton Tull Academic Excellence Elite winners. Both carry 4.00 grade point averages and were two of only three cross country athletes to earn that distinction.

Megan Allen placed 17
th at 19:22.1,
Victoria Joslin was 27
th at 19:46.1 and
Zoya Timoshenko broke the 20-minute mark in 31
st at 19:51.5.

Samantha Sweeney (20:18.8),
Miranda Nolen (20:19.5), Banks (21:38.7),
Mya Hudgins (21:45.9),
Dani Ingle (23:21.8) and
Ashley Ellis (23:58.1) also competed in the five-kilometer race.

The Lady Bison return to action Nov. 12 in the NCCAA Championships in Jackson, Mississippi.
