NCCAA Honors Posada as Gameplan4Life Award Recipeint

Panama City Beach, FL (10/18/15):  The first of the 2015-16 NCCAA Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Awards were presented tonight to Katie Holdren, a senior from Bethel College (IN), and Drew Posada, a senior from Oklahoma Baptist University (OK). These awards serve as the top award within the sport recognizing academic excellence, athletic achievement and Christian service and conduct.  Built on the Christ-like traits of Love, Integrity, Faith and Excellence, the NCCAA GP4L awards program seeks to honor one student-athlete in each sport who best displays these qualities.

Drew Posada is a four-year letterman from Shawnee, Oklahoma, and has served as captain of his team since 2014. The Cross Cultural Ministry major carries a 3.63 GPA, was named NCCAA Scholar-Athlete in 2015 and has been on the President's or Dean's list 5 of his first 7 semesters at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Drew has been the medalist at several events during his time at OBU including the recent Great American Conference Preview and, just concluded, NCCAA Central Region Qualifier. A Sooner Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team member, he was also recognized as a member of the 2014 NAIA All-Region Team. His competitive nature serves him well as the leader for this year's team but at no time does he fail to lead by a Christian example.

Always seeking to share Christ, Posada has participated in mission trips with his church to Arlington, TX, and London, England.  He also served a six week internship with the International Mission Board's Journeyman program. Each Wednesday night, Drew and his wife lead worship for a youth group about 20 miles from campus.

Katie Holdren is from Muncie, Indiana and is majoring in Elementary Education. She carries a 3.75 GPA and has earned President's or Dean's List honors in every semester while in college. In 2014, she earned Scholar-Athlete honors in the NCCAA and NAIA. In 2015, she was honored with the Presidential Student Leadership Award at Bethel College. This award is based upon the nominations of peers, faculty, and staff to recognize a servant-leader who excels in all areas of life.

Katie has been a leader on her team since arriving in 2012 and is a three-time Crossroads League All Conference selection. She has won five events in her career and competed in the NAIA National Championships twice and the NCCAA National Championship four times. She is known as a fierce competitor but does so with a genuine compassion for her opponents and a desire to honor Christ in how she competes.

Her coach describes Katie by sharing, "Katie is an amazing representation of Christ on and off the course. She just cares so much for the people she does life with and that caring never seems to be absent." Holdren is known as leader by example and in her words as she serves in a number of capacities. As captain of the Pilots, she is involved with the Student Athlete Leadership Team. She serves as a mentor in the 5 Star Program for kids, works within her family's own ministry called Secret Families, which raised over $100,000 last Christmas to assist 350 families in Muncie, Indiana, and has served in Vacation Bible School each summer.

The NCCAA is proud to honor Katie Holdren and Drew Posada as the 2015-16 NCCAA GP4L Character Award winners for Women's and Men's Golf.
