Langston stopped Oklahoma Baptist inside the five yard line three times to hold on for a 28-21 win over the Bison Saturday on Hurt Field.
 
OBU, after being stopped on fourth down at the LU 24 with three minutes left, recovered a Lions fumble with Blake Johnson corralling the loose ball.
 
After a 16-yard pass from Blake Woodard to Stephen Turner got the ball to the eight, Dawson Myers got inside the five on the next play.
 
Two carries for no gain set up a fourth and goal and Woodard's pass to Connor Kinsey was tapped away to preserve a 28-21 victory for LU.
 
"That was disappointing, but overall we played a lot better offensively this week than last week," said OBU Coach Chris Jensen. "There were a few plays we didn't make offensively and defensively."
 
OBU scored first, driving 87 yards on 11 plays with a 16-yard run by Woodard and a 19-yard Woodard to Nyko Symonds pass play. Woodard connected with Kinsey for a 15-yard gain on a fourth and six to keep the drive moving and a 15-yard run to the one by Dawson Myers set up the scoring plunge by Woodard at the 7:49 mark of the first quarter.
 
Trey Tully added the first of his four PAT kicks for a 7-0 lead.
 
Langston fired right back, scoring on a one-yard run by Mark Wright to compltee a 10-play, 75-yard drive.
 
Wright passed to Tommy Jones for a two-yard score and a 14-7 Langston lead with 9:59 left in the first half.
 
The Bison tied things up with 3:57 left in the half when Myers scored from a yard away to cap a 14-play, 59-yard drive that also included a 13-yard run by Jordan Barnes and a 10-yard run by Myers.
 
Wright scored on a one yard run to start the second half scoring and the Lions made it 28-14 when Wright and Cedric Jackson hooked up for an 85-yard touchdown pass with 2:45 left in the third quarter.
 
Stephan Turner had an 18-yard run and Woodard passed to Alex Lewis for 19 yards and Turner Coon for 21 to set up OBU's final touchdown – a four-yard run by Myers.
 
Woodard passed for 156 yards on 13 completions with 20 attempts without an interception.
 
Barnes finished with 101 yards on 20 carries to go with Myers' 85 on 16 totes. Nyko Symonds led the receiving corps with 60 yards on five catches.
 
Defensively, Nelson Mederios led with 10 tackles, Johnson and Christian Doty had fumble recoveries, Ed Morgan Jr. forced a fumble and Nic Shegog had an interception.
 
OBU finished with 259 yards rushing and 156 passing for 415 yards on 90 plays. Langston had 111 yards rushing and 260 passing for 371 yards on 51 plays.
 
Now 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the Central States Football League, the Bison host Haskell Indian Nations University at 2 p.m., Saturday.
