EMPORIA, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field member
Jamora Horace became the program's first NCAA individual national champion on Saturday as the team wrapped up the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
During the high jump competition, Horace recorded an effort of 1.87 meters, clinching the national title. That mark was also an OBU outdoor record, breaking an Akela Jones performance of 1.80 in 2013.
Also of note, at the conclusion of the meet, OBU finished in 12th place. That's the best-ever finish by the Bison in an NCAA Championship.
Other top efforts on Saturday included
Jacey Hammon in the high jump and
Trista Etheridge in the 800. For Hammon, she had the No. 2 performance in the country with a personal-best 1.78m. As for Etheridge, she delivered a First Team All-American performance with a time of 2:11.98 which slotted her in sixth.
Rounding out OBU's All-American efforts was
Altyn Bartley. During the shot put, she finished in 16th with a heave of 14.29m (46-10.75).
