LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma Baptist's
Haley Hacker and
Greenlee Wells were recognized as All-Central Region First Team members by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Friday.
It marks the fourth straight season that the Bison program has earned multiple, all-region accolades. With both Hacker and Wells making the top team, they will advance to All-American consideration too.
This past spring, Hacker and Wells were key pieces for a team that went 41-14 and achieved its highest NFCA ranking ever, jumping to No. 14 on March 10.
Hacker lined up in right field as well as along the infield during her sophomore campaign. She batted .365, posted a .615 slugging mark and OPS of 1.059. She also registered a .444 on-base percentage. All those marks were career-bests and were slotted in the top-10 of the Great American Conference.
Her best game was against Southeastern on March 28 when she recorded three homers, a D2 OBU single-game record.
Wells' campaign was sensational for the green and gold. The conference's Player of the Year, she tallied a school-record 19 homers, and posted OBU single-season bests in runs (56), RBI (62) and walks (68). Plus, her .934 slugging mark is the highest by an OBU player since the program moved to Division II in 2016. All the aforementioned stats for Wells were also among the best in the GAC and inside the top-20 nationally.
Among many solid performances, Wells became the first OBU player in the D2 era to record three homers in a game when she did so against Northeastern State on Feb. 13.
