INDIANAPOLIS – Members of both Oklahoma Baptist University men's and women's track and field programs were selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships to be held May 22-24 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado.
On the men's side,
Evan Olson will compete in the javelin throw, while
Sean Dixon and
Jentezen Smith qualified for competition in the 400-meter hurdles. Plus,
Isaiah Willis was named as a participant in the long jump.
Coming into the final meet of the year, Olson has the 16th-best mark in the nation (219-3.0) in his respective event, while Dixon's time of 50.88 in the hurdles in No. 4. For Smith, his time of 51.61 in the hurdles event is No. 19 in Division II and Willis' 24-5.5 mark in the long jump is a top-20 NCAA mark.
On the women's side, senior
Anisha Henderson will take part in long jump with
Asia Foster competing in the 400-meter dash. Plus,
Jamora Horace and
Valerie Olson are aiming for high marks in the high jump and heptathlon, respectively. Furthermore,
Sophia Strange will close her illustrious OBU career in the 10,000.
In relay events,
Delaney Riekert,
Mary McKey, Foster and Olson make up the current 4x400 relay team for OBU. Senior
Kimberly McKinney will also be in Colorado as an alternate for this event.
Among the women's rankings, Henderson is tied for 16th in D2 in the long jump (20-1.0) while Foster is slotted the same in the 400 (53.44). Horace is fourth nationally in the high jump (5-9.75) and Olson ranks fifth after a 5,428-point effort during the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relay back on March 26.
As for the 4x400 relay team, its best time of 3:38.22 during the Bryan Clay Invitational is No. 8 in the country.
