SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's
Sammie Greene,
Morgan Max and
Jaycee Shaffer were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Central Region Team on Monday.
It marks the third straight season that OBU placed multiple players on this award list. For Greene and Max, who were First Team selections, they move on to national balloting for All-American status.
During the 2025 campaign, these three were instrumental in the Bison's 36-17 record and advancement to the Great American Conference Tournament Title game for the first time.
Greene was the GAC Player of the Year and an All-GAC First Team selection. Her final season in Shawnee brought numerous personal achievements including career-highs in batting average (.384), hits (63), runs (44), homers (11) and steals (36). Plus, she became the first player in OBU's 50-year history to reach 200 career hits and 100 stolen bases.
Max was highly productive both in the circle and in the batter's box. Her pitching efforts included earning eight saves, No. 2 in the GAC, a top-four mark nationally and most by a Bison pitcher in the D2 era. She also led the conference with 27 games finished.
The All-GAC First Team honoree was awfully impressive offensively too. She led the GAC in on-base percentage (.503) and ranked second in slugging (.739). Max was also slotted third in homers (13) & second in RBI (53). Lastly, Max earned 37 walks, breaking the school's previous record of 36 (2007).
As for Shaffer, her effort as the Bison's lead starting pitcher was possibly the story line of the year for the program. The junior went 19-3 over 31 appearances, and her .863 winning percentage was the third-best in school history. An All-GAC First Team selection and GAC All-Tournament Team member, she ranked second in the GAC with 175.0 innings pitched and her 158 strikeouts were fourth-most. Plus, Shaffer's 2.40 ERA was the sixth-best mark in the league.
