"We're really excited for tomorrow," Bison Head Coach
Brian Whitlock said. "It's a really great accomplishment for these guys just to make it. But we aren't satisfied just being here. As one of the last teams selected, we want to show that we belong – which we do."
Under Whitlock, the Bison received an at-large bid to the championship after finishing in seventh place during the NCAA D2 Central Regional Championship on Nov. 8.
In recent memory, Colorado School of Mines, a school in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, has won three of the last five national titles. Adams State, another RMAC institution, has the most national titles since 1974 with 13.
As for the Great American Conference, its best finish was delivered by East Central. In 2023, the Tigers took third overall.
