SHAWNEE – After a fantastic fourth-place finish two weeks ago at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival, Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country will take to the course again at the DBU Old Glory Gallop, hosted by Dallas Baptist University, on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Fort Worth, TX.
The Bison, who are ranked fifth in the
Central Region and
receiving votes nationally, had a strong showing against a loaded field that included teams at the Division I and Division II levels last week. Four different runners finished in the top 50 in Arkansas, including a 19th-place showing by
Emery Crayton (23:43.0).
In all, OBU had
Zachary Williams (34th - 25:13.4),
Elijah White (36th - 25:15.0), and
Jonah Grein (39th - 25:24.8) all finish in the top 50. In addition to the top finishers,
Logan Austin (26:00.7),
Ira Gikas (25:45.7),
Jacob Kerbo (27:02.8), and
Cameron Langdon (25:38.6) all set new personal records in the 8K.
Oklahoma Baptist also competed in last year's Old Glory Gallop, finishing in 10th place. Williams led the Bison with a 22nd-place finish (24:39.82) while fellow current teammates
Levi Haynes,
Elijah White,
Hudson Cunningham,
Josh Kearse, and
Ira Gikas also competed. Haynes (61st - 25:21.60) and White (78th - 23:59.53) both finished in the top 80 of a field of more than 400 competitors.
Saturday's meet in Forth Worth will serve as the Bison's final tune-up before the Great American Conference Championship, which is slated for Saturday, Nov. 7, in Shawnee. The men's 8K begins at 8:15 a.m. and fans can follow along with live results
