NEW ORLEANS – After a strong showing at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival two weeks ago, Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country finds itself ranked #30 in the latest USTFCCCA Division II Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The Bison had been receiving votes in the poll since the beginning of the year and have been ranked as high as fifth in the Central Region poll. OBU started the year with a first-place showing at the Rogers State Distance After Dark (Sept. 3) and followed that up with a fourth-place finish at the highly-competitive Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival.
The latest ranking for the Bison marks just the second time in the program's Division II era (2015-pres.) that Oklahoma Baptist has been ranked in the top 30. OBU finished last season ranked #25 in the poll.
OBU is one of just two Great American Conference teams in to appear in the top 30 as GAC rival East Central shared the #30 spot in the latest rankings. ECU had been ranked as high as #25 three weeks ago. Harding is the only other conference foe to receive any votes in the poll.
The Bison will run their final regular-season race this weekend at the Dallas Baptist University Old Glory Gallop (Oct. 17).
