SHAWNEE – Ouachita (2-4-2, 1-0-1 GAC) is making its way to Bison Hill to face Oklahoma Baptist (1-5-3, 1-2-0 GAC) on Saturday, Oct. 4 for a Great American Conference women's soccer match. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Bison are coming off their first win of the season after defeating Harding 1-0 in Searcy. As for the Tigers, they handled Southern Nazarene 3-1 on Oct. 1 in Arkadelphia.
Historically, the green and gold lead the series over Ouachita 13-9-3. Last season, the two squads split the regular-season matches before a GAC Tournament Final match that resulted in a 4-3 penalty-kick shootout win for Ouachita.
Below are notes on both teams.
Bison Notes
- Lex Williamson scored the only goal of the match against Harding. She's got three this season, a top-10 mark in the GAC.
- Sophomore Lauren Hanley assisted on that goal and later stopped a last-second HU shot to preserve victory. For Hanley, it was her first career assist.
- OBU started the season with only one goal through three matches but have since scored in every contest (6) including two at Rogers State on Sept. 20.
- Jalen Cramer's first career start in goal was impressive. The 5-foot-5 freshman from Oklahoma City saved five HU shots.
- Hali White still leads the team in shots on goal per game. She's at 0.78, the ninth-best mark in the GAC.
- Overall, Sam Sheffield has fired a team-high 16 attempts while Addison Gray, Annabelle Joski and Williamson have reached double figures.
- After Oct. 4th's match with Ouachita, the Bison won't play again for a week.
Tigers Notes
- Ouachita is 0-4 in road games this fall. They have been outscored 10-1 in those contests.
- Two players stick out offensively: Olivia Erskine and Reese Brown. They each have six points which slot them top-10 in the GAC.
- Erskine leads with three goals while Isabella Savattere has a team-high three assists.
- As a team, Ouachita has 10 assists, third-best in the conference.
- The Tigers, though, have not put much pressure on goal this fall. Their 3.5 shots on target per match is sixth out of seven GAC teams.
- In goal, Taylor Hapgood is fourth in the league in saves (31) and fifth in goals against average (2.28).
