SHAWNEE – There were five Oklahoma Baptist baseball players honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
Nolan Feazle,
Jacob Campbell,
William Ellis,
Bryant Thornton and
Jordan Brewer were named CSC Academic All-District.
To qualify, a student-athlete had to have a 3.50 grade point average or higher, been of sophomore standing and have legitimate playing credentials.
Feazle is now a two-time Academic All-District honoree. A senior from Byng, Okla., he earned a degree in professional accountancy. During the spring, he made 14 starts and tossed 73.1 innings. Feazle won seven times on the mound and posted a 4.17 ERA. Those were the best marks for the OBU staff and ranked in the top-seven of the GAC.
Campbell, OBU's shortstop who played in all 52 games, is a communication studies major. The junior from Pinole, Calif., collected 45 hits, 11 doubles and 11 homers and was second on the team with seven stolen bases. Campbell also drew 38 walks, second-most on OBU.
On the mound was Ellis, a junior management major from Mustang. He made a staff-high 20 appearances, struck out 34 and earned three saves, second-most for the Bison. Another reliever, Thornton, earned distinction as an exercise science major. The junior from San Anselmo, Calif., notched four saves, tying for the most by a Bison pitcher in the D2 era. Plus, over 42.1 innings, Thornton struck out 49.
Rounding out the selections was Brewer. The junior from Choctaw who majors in psychology, made 18 appearances, earned two saves and struck out 30.
