SHAWNEE – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced its All-America and All-Central Region awards lists on Thursday.
For the NCBWA,
Alex Schroeder and
Troy Shields were each named Second Team All-America selections while the D2CCA release featured Schroeder, Shields and
Isiah Lissade as Central Region First Team members.
In the coming week, the D2CCA will announce its All-America award-winners. All three players mentioned above will move to that ballot for national consideration.
Schroeder is now a five-time All-America winner, the most in OBU baseball history. His selection on the NCBWA list marked the third straight season he made that publication. In 2022 he earned Honorable Mention before moving to the Third Team in 2023. As far as the D2CCA All-Region team, that's the first time Schroeder has made that list. In total, he has earned four all-region honors in his career.
For Shields, both his NCBWA All-America recognition and D2CCA All-Region nod are firsts for the senior from El Dorado Hills, Calif. As for Lissade, he too earned his first-ever all-region accolade after the D2CCA's announcement.
Of note, the Bison's three 1st-team selections on the all-region list tied for the most with MIAA school and No. 2 ranked Central Missouri.
