OBU Lands Four on D2CCA All-Region Squad

EDMOND, Okla. – A program record of four Bison softball players earned All-Region honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Monday afternoon.

Kayleigh Jones and Morgan Max garnered First Team recognition, while Adi Reese and Ally Ryan were selected as Second Team recipients.

It is the fourth career All-Region nod for Jones, second for Max, and first for the remaining Bison mentioned. A season ago, OBU landed two on the list, the most in school history at the time.

Oklahoma Baptist was tied alongside Central Oklahoma and Augustana for the second-most selections, while Pittsburg State led the Central Region with five honorees. OBU's number of recipients was more than all Great American Conference schools combined, as Southern Nazarene collected two and Harding garnered one.

Jones' fifth-year campaign featured three no-hitters, a 1.85 ERA, and 247 strikeouts. She limited opponents to a .178 batting average inside the circle and registered 10 punchouts in 12 separate contests.

Her outstanding spring also included a 20-strikeout performance against Central Missouri (2/18), where she only gave up one hit. The feat broke her school record for punchouts in a game.

Jones' other postseason accolades included being named to the NFCA All-Region First Team, All-GAC First Team, and earning the GAC's Pitcher of the Year award for a second consecutive season.

Max also earned a spot on the NFCA All-Region First Team after garnering the Conference Player of the Year award and being named an All-GAC First Team honoree. She finished with a .370 batting average, a .623 slugging percentage, and a .478 on-base percentage.

Max added 54 hits, 12 doubles, 42 RBI, and eight home runs. The junior was also a viable option in the pitching lane, collecting two saves while twirling 20.0 innings without allowing a run. She registered a 1.40 ERA and struck out 23 batters.

Reese posted career bests in the following categories: batting average (.363), hits (53), doubles (16), slugging (.555), on-base percentage (.429, sacrifice bunts (13), and stolen bags (10).

The second baseman recorded 13 multi-hit games and once held a reached-base streak of 19 games. During a series against Southwestern Oklahoma State, Reese charted three consecutive outings with three hits and a pair of runs scored.

Ryan made a significant jump in her sophomore campaign with a .697 slugging percentage, a .309 batting average, and a team lead in home runs (18). The latter broke the program's record for knocks in a season, achieved last weekend against Southern Arkansas in the NCAA tournament.

She added 47 hits while leading the team in RBI (50) and total bags (106). Additionally, on two occasions, Ryan went yard twice in a single game.

Both Reese and Ryan were First Team All-GAC honorees, too.
