DES MOINES, Iowa / LUBBOCK, Texas – Matthew Higdon broke his school record in the hammer at Texas Tech's Corky/Crofoot Shootout while the Bison Shuttle Hurdle Relay squad set a new program record at Drake Relays to highlight OBU's efforts over the weekend.
Hidgon placed third in the hammer with a career-best heave of 61.03m (200-3), the 17th-furthest throw in the NCAA Division II.
Alexander Schovanec also competed at Texas Tech, turning in a 12th-place finish in the discus. The senior posted a heave of 40.88m (134-1).
At Drake Relays, the 4x110 hurdle relay team clocked a 58.86 to place fourth, topping their school record set a week ago at the Ford Mastin Twilight.
The quartet included Aaryn Anderson, Jentezen Smith, Slater Ward, and Boone Bennett.
In the 400m hurdles, Sean Dixon finished ninth after running a career-best time of 52.75. The mark met the NCAA DII standard and stands 26th in the nation.
Anderson and Bennett added 12th and 18th place finishes in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.47 and 14.73, respectively.
