SHAWNEE –The Oklahoma Baptist track and field program announced the hiring of K'Ron Sherald as assistant coach on Monday.
A native of Baltimore, Md., Sherald brings a wealth of impressive credentials to the OBU program where he'll help with the sprints and relays group.
Over the last two years, Sherald worked at Friends University (NAIA) in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to attaining his Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership, he designed sprint training plans within the program's yearly training cycle, assisted with the hosting of indoor and outdoor meets, led recruiting efforts and assisted with fundraising initiatives.
Among athletic success at Friends, the program won the 2026 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference outdoor championship, its first in a span of nine years.
On the competition field, Sherald coached 28 NAIA National Qualifiers, seven NAIA All-Americans and nearly 20 NAIA Academic All-Americans. Plus, he coached Tiyna Ridge to the second-fastest 100-meter time in NAIA women's history and coached an NAIA National Runner-Up in the both the 100- and 200-meter dash events.
In addition to his work at Friends, Sherald led the Shocker Track Club in Wichita over the past year. As the head sprint coach, he led training sessions, oversaw team operations and developed and implemented spring workouts.
Sherald earned his Bachelor of Arts from Lindsey Wilson College in May of 2024 with a degree in Recreation, Tourism, and Sports Management. In his time competing for the Blue Raiders, he was an NAIA Outdoor National Qualifier, competed at the 2022 NAIA Outdoor National Championships and was a two-time school record holder. Furthermore, Sherald was a 2021 All-Mid South Conference First Team selection and Mid-South Conference Outdoor Team Champion. He owns a USATF Level 1 Certification too.
