EMPORIA, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist moved into two more championship events after Friday's efforts at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Emporia State University.
Speedster
Dwayne Fleming secured entry into the 200-meter dash finals after his prelim's performance. The junior clocked the third-best time out of 22 participants, finishing with a mark of 20.74.
A little later, the 4x400 team of Fleming,
Caden Peevey,
Kobe Brown and
Ayo Toritsju raced to a finish of 3:07.28. That not only was the fourth-best time of the two heats, but it was also a season-best and four-hundredths of a second away from the 1997 OBU record (3:07.24).
In his first NCAA Championship,
Korban Murphy took 17th in the 800 (1:50.80), rounding out OBU's efforts.
