RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – OBU's series opening contest against Arkansas Tech has been suspended due to reoccurring lightning strikes in Russellville. The series will carry on tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
Per the GAC's operating bylaw, a game halted prior to the final game of the series can be paused and resumed the next day at that point.
Friday's initial delay started early in the contest, occurring at 2:08 p.m. and in the bottom of the first with Oklahoma Baptist leading 1-0. That delay proved to be the longest as play did not resume again until 6:19 p.m.
Tonight's contest stopped at the bottom of the seventh inning, with Maggie Place in the circle and the Golden Suns facing a 0-2 count with two outs. OBU was ahead 4-3.
