SHR Record Falls as Bison Rack up 15 wins at Ford Mastin Twilight

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist hurdle squad set a new school record in the shuttle hurdle relay to highlight OBU's efforts at the Ford Mastin Twilight.

The 4x110 hurdle quartet of Jentezen Smith, Slater Ward, Aaryn Anderson, and Boone Bennett clocked a 59.55, breaking the previous program record of 1:01.17 set in 2017.

Brandon Cowley, Cayden Spain, Christopher Walker, and Dakota Kappelle ran on that squad.

The relay success continued in the 4x400 (3:21.25) and 4x100 (41.52), where both teams drew top honors.

Caden Peevey won the 100 meters after running a personal-best 10.44, the quickest time in the program's Division II era. The time met the NCAA provisional standard and ranks 31st in DII.

The freshman added another first-place nod in the 200 meters with a 21.50.

Aaryn Anderson paced OBU in the 110 hurdles with a provisional 14.22, ahead of teammates Smith (2nd, 14.56) and Boone Bennett (3rd, 14.65).

Sean Dixon and Marcus Petersen collected top honors in the 400m hurdles and 400 meters, respectively. Dixon crossed in 53.95, while Petersen ran a 49.52.

In the 800 meters, Carson Kardokus (1:56.86) and Emmett Murphy (1:58.60) finished second and third. Kardokus added a first-place finish in the 1500 meters after running a 3:57.35.

Michael Parker and James Williams trailed at second and third in the 1500m, respectively. Parker clocked a personal-best 4:00.86, while Williams crossed the finish line in 4:09.11.

Emery Crayton rounded out the notable running event finishes with the fourth-best time (9:41.02) in the 3000m steeple chase.

Matthew Higdon secured top honors in the hammer throw with a DII provisional mark of 59.34m (194-8), his second furthest throw this season. Additionally, Alexander Schovanec recorded a runner-up finish in the event with a heave of 49.51m (162-5).

Schovanec also captured first-place finishes in the shot put and discus. The senior recorded a season-best provisional mark of 16.82m (55-2.25) in the shot put, which is currently 25th in DII, and 45.54m (149-5) mark in the discus.

Also competing in the shot put was Elijah Wood, who placed second with a personal-best hurl of 14.96m (49-1).

Trey Bartholomew and Isaiah Willis won the high and long jump, respectively. Bartholomew cleared 2.07m (6-9.5) in the high jump, and Willis leaped 7.32m (24-0.25) in the latter, which also earned a provisional.

In the triple jump, freshman Nathan Goodson collected his first career win with a leap of 12.76m (41-10.5), while Evan Olson took second in the javelin with a throw of 53.92m (186-11).
