Becker Earns All-GAC Honor, Spaulding Named Distinguished Scholar

SHAWNEE – Sophomore golfers Morgan Becker and Rylie Spaulding were honored by the Great American Conference this evening at the league's end-of-the-year awards banquet ahead of Sunday's start of the GAC Championship in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Becker garnered second-team All-GAC honors, making her a two-time recipient after earning a first-team nod a season ago.

The Southlake, Texas, native put on another stellar season, which included four top-five and five top-10 finishes. She paced the Bison squad with a 75.05 stroke average and a .830 win-loss percentage.

Becker turned in a season-best outing at the Tulsa Cup in October, firing rounds of 74 and 72 to finish 2-over-par and in fourth place. Her 72 (E) was a season-low and a tie for the best on the team.

She also charted a 2-over card at the NSU Classic in September, penciling back-to-back 73s before claiming a tie for fifth place on the leaderboards.

Although honored for her commitment in the classroom, Spaulding took a leap on the greens this season. Spaulding sliced her stroke average from 86.33 as a freshman to 83.67 this year.

Spaulding capped her regular season with her best card across three rounds in her career at Arkansas Tech's Spring Preview. She beat out 35 opponents and claimed 60th at the tourney.
