PITTSBURG, Kan. – Steven Schmidt and Trey Bartholomew earned First Team All-America honors after placing top-eight in their respective events at the 2024 Division II Indoor Championship this weekend.
Schmidt compiled 5,442 points across seven events in the Heptathlon to place sixth among 14 participants. Schmidt's performance was highlighted by a win in the pole vault, where he cleared 4.75m (15-7).
Schmidt is the first Heptathlon All-American in OBU's Division II era.
He also posted career-best marks in the 60m hurdles (8.35) and the shot put (12.91m, 42-4.25).
It is Schmidt's second-straight indoor All-America nod after he claimed a first-team recognition a season ago. Overall, Schmidt has been named an All-American four times in his career.
Bartholomew placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 2.13m (6-11.75) to claim his second nod of his career. It was a tie for his highest career clearance in the event.
Additionally, he has collected a spot on the first team for the first time.
