RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist catcher/designated hitter
Troy Shields earned his second career Great American Conference Player of the Week honor on Tuesday.
The junior from El Dorado Hills, Calif., turned in a great week in the batter's box as the Bison posted a 3-2 record against Central Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
He hit .533, had a slugging mark of .933, drove in a team-high nine RBI and notched 22 putouts with one assist from his catching position. Shields ended up with eight hits, two of which were homers, scored six runs and finished with an on-base percentage of .611.
His best game came against Southeastern on March 11 when he posted two hits, a homer, four RBI and three runs scored. With his performances, Shields moved into second place in the GAC with seven homers and 30 RBI. Plus, he sits in eighth in slugging (.675) and tenth in OPS (1.149).
